About Quixotic Design Co.
Quixotic Design Co is a strategy-led brand and web design studio known for delivering exceptionally thoughtful work and an equally strong client experience. We work with women-owned businesses across a wide range of industries, so every project is different and the work stays creatively energizing.
Internally, we aim for a culture that’s warm and collaborative. This is a place where people genuinely like working together and can bounce ideas around without ego. Externally, we show up with a high bar: professional, prepared, and confident, with the ability to clearly explain the “why” behind every creative choice.
If you’re looking for a team where you can do your best work and help build something meaningful, without the hyper-competitive agency vibes, this is for you.
Why join our team?
At Quixotic, we prioritize working with women-owned businesses. There are 114% more women entrepreneurs than there were 20 years ago, and a whopping 12.3 million in the US alone. Our client list is made up of 99% women and we prioritize female applicants in all new positions. As a female founded and female led team, you’ll feel right at home.
Overview of the Sr. Designer Role
Quixotic is hiring a full-time Senior Designer to own the day-to-day execution of client work across the studio’s two core services: Brand Identity and Web Design. This person will translate strategy into high-quality, original visual systems, then carry that work through final delivery with strong project organization and clear, responsive communication.
The role begins as a full-time hourly (non-exempt) position with structured expectations around working hours, time tracking, and deadlines. After a successful 90-day review, the role is intended to transition to a salaried (exempt) position.
Candidates must be able to work
9:30am–5pm PST.

You’re a good fit for this role if:
-
You’re energized by being part of a team and helping build culture.
-
You’re excited to do strategy-based design, rather than one specific style, and can flex across industries while still creating work that feels refined and original.
-
Your portfolio is well-rounded and represents many different styles, industries, and clients types.
-
You bring original thought and strong taste. You don’t default to whatever’s trending on Instagram/Pinterest, and you know how to source inspiration beyond the obvious.
-
You’re comfortable in a collaborative creative process and can iterate quickly and take feedback with a “best idea wins” mindset.
-
You care deeply about client experience, meaning you’re patient and willing to walk clients through the process rather than brushing them off with “it’s in Asana.”
-
You can defend creative decisions thoughtfully and also know when a client needs a little extra education about why you made the decisions you did.
-
You’re someone who follows through and hits deadlines (AKA you don’t go dark for a day and a half when something is due.)
-
You communicate clearly and consistently on a remote team. To us, this means proactive updates, good responsiveness during core hours, and strong collaboration with teammates and contractors.

This role is not for you if:
-
You’re looking for a role that’s a stepping stone to start your own agency. This position requires real investment in the team and the long-term vision.
-
You primarily want to design in one aesthetic or signature style, and prefer brands that all look like your portfolio.
-
You rely heavily on trends for creative direction (or struggle to generate original concepts without copying what’s popular online).
-
You take feedback personally or get precious about your ideas.
-
You want a super “chill” setup with loose timelines. This role requires responsiveness, structure, and deadline discipline.
-
You prefer to avoid the “why” behind the “what”. Quixotic’s work is rooted in strategy and client education.
-
You’re not excited about being part of a small team where trust, professionalism, and collaboration really matter.
